Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding MEP Design team in Surrey. The Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer will be working in Surrey in an office-based role. The Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer will be expected to complete the hands-on design work & calculations on Commercial Mechanical & HVAC systems such as Ductwork, Ventilation, Piped Services & Heating etc. You must be able to converse effectively with different teams. You must have previous experience working on Residential, Commercial, Education & Retail projects. The ideal candidate must have hands-on design experience. You must be a passionate and approachable individual, ready to join a team with great camaraderie.

You will be responsible for the hands-on design of all mechanical systems on Residential, Commercial and other Building projects. The successful candidate will need to be able to work on their own and as part of the wider team and have a willingness to learn new skills as the business develops. Good interpersonal and influencing skills will be required in order to build working relationships with the client teams internally and externally. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work within a rapidly expanding company.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Supporting senior staff in the design of mechanical systems, preparing drawings, specifications and product schedules for projects from inception to completion.
  • Undertaking site visits and monitoring progress against the design with minimal supervision.
  • Monitoring workload against deliverables.
  • Assisting with planning work schedules to meet project programmes.
  • Building relationships and contacts with potential sources of new work, maintaining existing relationships.
  • Checking tender submissions, drawings and technical submittals to ensure quality of products and equipment are in accordance with design. Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient in the use of the following systems; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Hevacomp or IES, Outlook
  • A high level of attention to detail and a good level of oral and written communication.
  • An understanding of BSRIA BG6 and RIBA stages, Part L, the CDM Regulations and BREEAM and renewable technologies.
  • A reasonable understanding of other MEP engineering disciplines, other than your own, sufficient to understand their impact in the overall design, and converse at a reasonable level.
  • A flair for working on smaller and quick turnaround projects and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously. • Preferably conversant with and able to use AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experienced in condition surveys/report writing (including pre-acquisition, vendor, dilapidations, etc.). Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer – Surrey - Position Remuneration
