Thermall Modeller / Sustainability
This will include designing and assessing whole buildings for Part L compliance using IES VE software – with a focus on minimising CO2 emissions and mitigating summer overheating. You will also be learning passive design principles, including the Passivhaus Standard as part of the QODA approach to sustainable buildings. This is a technical role, requiring a high degree of numeracy and an ability to unravel complex technical puzzles to guide our clients and design partners in key project decisions. We get involved in everything from solar modelling of site masterplans to detailed finite element modelling of individual building fabric components. It all counts, as we deliver highly sustainable buildings.
Familiarity with a 3D building energy modelling package is essential, and experience of IES-VE in particular is preferred. Likewise, any training in, or familiarity with the Passivhaus Standard would be an advantage, alongside related building physics disciplines such as natural daylight design. There will be opportunities for training through our Academy programme to help achieve Chartered Engineer status.
What they need:
Qualified to degree level in engineering / physics
Good communication skills both written and verbal
2+ years of experience in building thermal modelling
