Role Overview

As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key leadership role within the consultancy, managing a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, overseeing project delivery, and contributing to business development efforts. You will act as a technical lead on major projects while supporting the strategic growth of the mechanical division.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, including mentoring junior staff and overseeing team resourcing.

• Deliver mechanical design solutions for a range of building services projects from concept through to completion.

• Undertake detailed technical reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants to ensure coordinated and high-quality outcomes.

• Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.

• Support business development, attend client meetings, and contribute to bids and proposals.

• Keep abreast of latest industry innovations, sustainability practices, and regulatory changes.

• Represent the company at key industry events and forums.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).

• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards.

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant UK consultancy experience within the MEP sector.

• Proven experience leading mechanical design on mid to large-scale projects.

• Excellent knowledge of relevant regulations, standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA, Part L), and software (e.g., Hevacomp, IES, Revit).

• Strong team leadership and communication skills.
