Position Overview:
As an Associate with a focus on embodied carbon, you will play a critical role in leading and driving efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our projects. You will work closely with clients, design teams, and industry partners to implement sustainable design strategies that prioritize the reduction of embodied carbon throughout the entire project lifecycle, from material selection and construction processes to demolition and recycling considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the implementation of embodied carbon reduction strategies across projects, from inception to completion.
- Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and sustainability consultants to integrate sustainable design principles and practices.
- Conduct lifecycle assessments and carbon footprint analyses to evaluate and optimize material choices and construction methodologies.
- Advise clients on sustainable material selection, considering embodied carbon, life cycle costing, and environmental certifications.
- Stay updated on the latest research, industry standards, and emerging technologies related to embodied carbon reduction.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners to promote sustainable practices and drive innovation.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and attending industry events.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience and expertise in embodied carbon analysis, sustainable design, and green building practices.
- Strong knowledge of relevant tools and methodologies, such as life cycle assessment (LCA) software and environmental product declarations (EPDs).
- Familiarity with sustainable material databases and certifications, such as EPD, Declare, and Cradle to Cradle.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RIBA, CIBSE, USGBC) would be advantageous.
